My first brand new bike

Way to go guys! I've bought my fair share of new cars, and the experience can be, let's say, frustrating. With Jim at Pete's Cycles, it was easy. He gave me the best price I could find for the EXACT bike I wanted (I shopped around to dealerships within 100 miles of metro DC), gave clear instructions on the financing, and most importantly, gave me room to breath and make my decision without being pushy. When I picked up the bike, Sean took great care of me. He never seemed rushed, helped me load the bike on a truck, walked me through some maintenance tips and generally made me feel like the most important person he had seen all day. And here is the kicker. Has this ever happened to you? You buy a new vehicle from a dealer, and after the salesman delivers you to the sales manager to sit down and sign all the paperwork, only to have the sales manager push you to buy a bunch of extra crap - undercoating, extended warranties, option packages available 'only today!, all that bs? There was ZERO of that garbage. They did ask about an extended warranty before I came in. I said no, and it was never mentioned again. Awesome. Bottom line, they were great and so was my experience.

Can't even change a filter

Never, I repeat... NEVER!! go to this place!!! I had an issue with my GSXR 750 randomly slowing after holding the throttle steady while cruising. And needed all the level 2 servicing done as well as a new battery and recalls. I told them it kills the battery after just 2 weeks of not being on. I told them it won't hold speed when the handle is held steady while cruizing. I told them this must be fuel spark or air problem but I'm not a mechanic and so I cannot say exactly to what it is, they will need to trouble shoot it. I said take your time get it done as long as it takes, I just want it done right. They said no problem. They called me said its got an extra wire coming from the battery do you know what its for? I said no but would you check what it is. (I was thinking maybe powercommander) turns out it had some old lojack system for motorcycles on it. After paying $500 for level 2 services, a new battery, and them troubleshooting it. I'm told its fixed and you can take it home. Rode home ok. I let it sit for 2 weeks in the garage, and battery was dead. Stuck it on a battery tender and charged it back up, rode to work ok. On the way home all hell broke loose. Now it doesn't just slow down while attempting to hold at speed, it stalls completely. This was a very scary and dangerouse ride home 1.5 hours from work. In some rare instances it would catch its self and rocket back up to speed. I called them up halfway home and told them about this they said bring it back in and we will get it fixed. It should fall under our 30 day work guarantee. My neighbor lucky for me was willing to let me borrow his trailer and I brought it back in to Pete's Cycle. A couple weeks later they call and ask me what the extra wire is that goes to the battery. (Maybe you can imagine my disbelief) they were the ones who told me it was lojack. Then they proceed to tel me its not going to be covered under the guarantee because I didn't ask for it to be diagnosed. As you might have guessed I thought they must be joking. How would I the customer be responsible for not using a key word like diagnose. How is it my job to tell the mechanic how to be a mechanic. So now agitated I explained this and added make sure you write this down I want you to check the fuel injectors, check the fuel pump and filter, check the spark plugs, check the air filters, check the electrical system on the bike and make sure its not going to die after 2 weeks. I made sure ask them to repeat everything I wanted and verify it was written down again because some how just saying fix the problem was not enough. 3 weeks later they tell me the fuel pump is bad and it will be $800 for parts and labor, said it need a new fuel pump assembly, that's $660 and $120 in labor. Keep in mind I've already paid $500 to them, to fix all its problems. Now they want another $800. To finish the job. Boy does this sound like a bad company trying to milk all the money they can get. Once again my neighbor was kind enough to lend me his trailer and I went and picked up the bike unfixed. And they charged me another $300 for the diagnosing. Took it home and figured maybe I can fix it for less money. Turns out it was 15 minutes to pull everything apart. Another 15 to put it all together again after cleaning the filter and all the pump parts. Well now it rides better, not perfect yet but much better. So far it has not stalled on me once. Its hardly slowing down while trying to hold steady speed. But it won't go over 10k rpm. My guess is the old filter is restricting fuel still. A new one should allow it to flow free. Probably $10 part for a 6 pack. So now you know why not to ever go to this place. They will take your money, not garuntee their work on a technicality of wording, then take your money again, and still not have the bike fixed.

Great Service Department

Came in for a recall, Tyler was great to work with in the service department. Helped to schedule a time to come back when parts were available. When I returned I was in and out thanks to Tyler and Tim. Completely satisfied with work performed, will return for future service. Thank you Pete's Cycle for great service.
